Faculty eCommons’ Session at Sloan-C’s International Conference on Online Learning: A Success!
Dr. Melissa Kaulbach, Vice President, Academic Services and Dr. Heather Farmakis, Director, Academic Services presented “A Galaxy of Professional Development” today at The 19th Annual Sloan Consortium International Conference on Online Learning – and it was a success!
At the beginning of the interactive session, Drs. Kaulbach and Farmakis identified a problem among online faculty: a lack of flexible and convenient professional development offerings for higher education faculty.
They approached this problem head on by sharing the social learning ecosystem for faculty that features resources for free professional development: Faculty eCommons. Additionally, they explored pedagogy and effective practices in the online space, including resources from the Ed Tech Du Jour web show featured on Ted Ed and the Faculty eCommons. By the end of the session, the attendees discovered and utilized a vetted online teaching resource bank with a variety of professional development offered.
Thank you to The Sloan Consortium and all who attended!
